Molluscum Contagiosum is a viral skin condition common in children. Spreading by direct contact, it forms tiny lumps, each with a central depression. Although this disease can be long-term it generally clears up of its own accord over a period of 6-9 months. Careful squeezing to remove the central plug is possible and may speed up the healing process.
Although Molluscum is not highly contagious it is spread by skin to skin contact and it is therefore advisable to maintain strict hygiene measures at home with separate towels, flannels and bedding for the affected child and boil washes at each linen change.
