Glandular Fever

Without proper medical attention the virus that causes glandular fever can leave sufferers debilitated for years. It usually strikes in the late teens, around exams or other stressful times, but can occur in children too. ‘Flu like symptoms occur during the first part of the illness. This is followed by debility, inability to concentrate and, possibly, personality changes. Tiredness, malaise, headache, fever, swollen glands in the neck, a sore throat (with red spots), and a rash are all common symptoms. Seek professional advice if you suspect Glandular Fever as early intervention can make a considerable difference. Be sure to include beetroot juice and plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables in the diet. Nutritional supplements like Floradix, Vitamin C and Spirulina may also help. Acupuncture can help significantly in re-mobilising energy during the recovery period.
